All parents want their children to grow up to be successful. To be able to stand on their own two feet, make good decisions and be successful and happy in their careers. But how can we guide them in their career choices when we don’t even know what skills will be important in 10 or 15 years?
An interesting article from Success Magazine, titled “How to make sure your children become more successful than you,” talks about the importance of developing “soft skills” – although I think most entrepreneurs would call these essential skills.
“In today’s world, with so much competition for quality jobs and other jobs giving way to technology, prospective employers want candidates who are creative, deep thinkers, too. Happiness, grit, creativity, communication, courage and critical thinking are arguably more important for developing your child’s intelligence than being able to name the capitals of every state.”
